Ozzy Osbourne, Paul Stanley (KISS), Slash (GUNS N’ ROSES), David Coverdale (WHITESNAKE), Flea (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) e Billy Corgan (SMASHING PUMPKINS) estão entre os roqueiros que reagiram nas redes sociais à súbita morte de “Dusty” Hill, o carismático baixista dos ZZ TOP. O falecimento do músico foi confirmado pela própria banda nas redes sociais, num comunicado em que Frank Beard e Billy Gibbons anunciavam a partida do seu “Compadre”. Entretanto, a lendária banda de rock parece apostada em seguir caminho mesmo sem o seu baixista de longa data. Foi, pelo menos, isso que o cantor e guitarrista Billy Gibbons disse numa mensagem ao apresentador de rádio Eddie Trunk. O apresentador do famoso “Trunk Nation”, na SiriusXM, tweetou que tinha recebido uma mensagem de Gibbons, que alegadamente lhe disse: “Como o Dusty disse antes da sua partida, ‘Deixem o espectáculo continuar!’, por isso, com todo o respeito, o melhor que podemos fazer é ultrapassar esta situação e honrar os seus desejos. O Dusty agarrou enfaticamente no meu braço e exclamou ‘Entreguem o baixo ao Elwood e deixem-no levá-lo ao topo ’. Ele quis realmente dizer o que disse, amigo. E foi isso que ele fez.” Na sequência da morte de Hill, Gibbons e Beard decidiram cancelar o concerto de quarta-feira na cidade de Simpsonville, na Carolina do Sul, mas até ao momento o resto do extenso itinerário da tour permanece inalterado. A tour, pelo que tudo indica, vai retomar já hoje, 30 de Julho, em Tuscaloosa, no Alabama.
